Wx FBG Interrogator Successfully Undergoes Fast Jet Flight Trials

As a culmination of the joint European defence project AHMOS2, our high speed FBG Interrogator "Wx" underwent numerous fast jet flight trials on a BAE Systems Hawk aircraft. Wx and several other monitoring technologies were mounted in an under-wing pod to verify the flight worthiness of an integrated structural health monitoring system.
During the trials, Wx successfully recorded high-speed load information on a structural element located in the pod, and on which damage had been initiated. The aircraft was flown close to the edge of its operational envelope, and Wx performed impeccably.
